What is Cub Scouting?
A year-round, family-centered adventure program for elementary-age kids — run by parents, for parents and their Scouts.
Cub Scouting is where kids learn to tie a knot, pitch a tent, build a pinewood derby car, help a neighbor, and stand up in front of a room and be proud of something they made themselves. Along the way they pick up the things that stick for life: honesty, respect, service, curiosity, and the plain confidence that comes from trying something hard and finishing it.
Pack 13 is part of the 587 Northwest Texas Council of Scouting America, and we are chartered right here in Wichita Falls. We are a small, friendly pack — which means every Scout gets attention, every family gets a say, and new folks stop feeling new by about the second Sunday.
Scouts are grouped into dens by grade, and all the dens come together once a month as a pack for awards, games, and announcements. Parents are not spectators here: Cub Scouting is designed to be done together, and some of the best parts of the year are the ones the grown-ups are in the middle of.
Get outside
Overnight campouts at Lake Arrowhead, fishing derbies, rocket launches, day camps, and hikes. For a lot of our families, this is their kid's first campfire.
Earn it honestly
Every Scout starts with the Bobcat badge — learning the Scout Oath and Law, the Cub Scout sign, salute, handshake, and motto — then works up through their rank adventures.
Give back
Scouting for Food, the Veterans Day parade, Scout Sunday, and service projects around Wichita Falls. Kids learn early that a community is something you help carry.

A real calendar, planned a year out
You are not guessing what happens next month. Our full 2026–2027 schedule is published below — campouts, derbies, banquets and all — so you can plan your family around it.
Small pack, big attention
With around a dozen Scouts and six registered adult leaders, nobody gets lost in the crowd. Your kid is known by name by every leader in the room.
Siblings and parents included
Family campouts, Cub & Pal weekends, swim parties, and the Blue & Gold Banquet are whole-family events. Bring the little ones.
One hour, one day a week
Den meetings are Sundays, 3:00–4:00 PM. One hour. Same place every week. Special events are on the calendar well in advance.
Affordable — and we help
Pack dues are built into our annual budget rather than charged separately, and our fall popcorn sale lets Scouts earn credit toward their own fees and camp costs.
Character that outlasts the badges
Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind. We say it out loud every week because saying it out loud every week is how it sinks in.

Scouts are placed in a den by grade level. Every den meets Sundays from 3:00–4:00 PM.

Den meetings happen every Sunday from 3:00–4:00 PM unless a date below says otherwise.
Pack Meetings are the 1st Sunday of each month at 3:00 PM. Committee Meetings are the last Sunday of each month at 3:00 PM. No regular meetings on federal holidays.

How to join
There is no wrong time of year to start. Show up once and see if it fits.
Come to a meeting
Drop in any Sunday at 3:00 PM at First Christian, 3701 Taft Blvd. No uniform, no paperwork, no commitment for a first visit — just bring your Scout.
Say hello to a leader
Talk to Cubmaster Paul Herrera or any den leader. They'll place your Scout in the right den by grade and walk you through what the year looks like.
Register your Scout
Complete a youth application through Scouting America and pay the annual registration. Leaders will hand you the form — or you can look up Pack 13 online at beascout.org.
Get the handbook & uniform
Your Scout's first handbook is free. Uniforms are available at the Northwest Texas Council Scout Shop, 3604 Maplewood Ave, or online at scoutstuff.org.

Fees are set by Scouting America and the Northwest Texas Council and are current as published in our pack literature — please confirm the year's exact amounts with a leader when you register. Cost should never be the reason a child can't join. Our fall popcorn sale lets Scouts earn credit toward their own fees, camp, and activities — ask Paul about it.
